They're called the Ryzen 7 9700X and the Ryzen 5 9600X. These processors are part of the Ryzen 9000 series and they have some cool new features. The Ryzen 5 9600X has 6 cores and 12 threads, while the Ryzen 7 9700X has 8 cores and 16 threads. Both of these processors have super fast speeds, with the Ryzen 5 9600X boosting up to 5.4 GHz and the Ryzen 7 9700X boosting up to 5.5 GHz.

One awesome thing about these new processors is that they can work with the same motherboards as the older Ryzen processors. So, if you already have a motherboard that works with Ryzen, you can just update the firmware and use it with the new Ryzen 9000 series. Pretty cool, right? We were hoping for some new motherboards to come out with these processors, but it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for those.

Guess what, guys? The new Ryzen 9000 series is here, and it's got some cool upgrades from the last version, Zen 4. AMD says that Zen 5 can do up to 16% better in both single-threaded and multi-threaded tasks. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X have a power usage of 65 W, which is pretty good. We can't wait to see how well Zen 5 works compared to Zen 4!

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X: Zen 5 For Desktop

For the past few months, AMD has been talking about their new Zen 5 microarchitecture that they showed off at Computex 2024. They've made some cool changes to their Ryzen processors for Zen 5, especially in how the cores are designed. It's interesting that they're still using the same IOD from Zen 4, but the Ryzen 9000 series is getting an upgrade with the new Zen 5 cores. The I/O die is made by TSMC on their 6 nm node.

Zen 5 is like the cool new upgrade to Zen 4, making it faster and more efficient. It has bigger caches, which are like storage spaces for data, and can handle more instructions at once. The Execution Units, which do all the heavy lifting, are also improved with more power. Zen 5 is designed to handle data better and use less power than Zen 4. It also has a special feature called Simultaneous Multi-Threading, which helps it do multiple tasks at the same time.

Zen 5 processors are made using a new technology called TSMCs N4P node, which is even better than the one used for Zen 4. This new technology makes Zen 5 faster, more efficient, and cheaper to produce. Overall, Zen 5 is like the upgraded version of Zen 4, with better performance and more advanced technology.

Check out the new Ryzen 9000 lineup from AMD! They've announced four different models so far. The top dog is the Ryzen 9 9950X, with a whopping 16 cores, a max speed of 5.7 GHz, and 80 MB of cache. The next one down is the Ryzen 9 9900X, with 12 cores and a max speed of 5.6 GHz. The big change with these new chips is that they use Zen 5 architecture instead of Zen 4, and they have lower power usage compared to the older models. Pretty cool stuff!

So, the new Ryzen 9000 is pretty cool because it can fit into the same socket as the older Ryzen 7000 series. But, motherboard companies are making new motherboards with the X870E and X870 chipsets to go along with it. These new motherboards all have the same ASMedia Promontory 21 chipset inside, but they have different features.

One big change with the X870E/X870 motherboards is that they all support USB 4.0, which is a big upgrade from the older X670(E) boards. They also have Wi-Fi 7 support, which is even better than Wi-Fi 6E from the 600 series. Plus, they all have at least one PCIe 5.0 NVMe slot, which is pretty cool.

AMD says that both X870E and X870 motherboards have a total of 44 PCIe lanes, with 24 coming from the CPU and 20 from the chipset. So, these new motherboards have some awesome new features that make them stand out from the older ones. Cool, right?

If you already have an AM5 motherboard, you don't need to rush to upgrade unless you really want features like Wi-Fi 7. The new X870E and X870 motherboards are expected to come out in September, but there's no official release date yet. The AMD Ryzen 7 9700X is priced at $359, which is $40 cheaper than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen 5 7600X is $279, $20 less than the Ryzen 5 7600X from two years ago. AMD is being competitive with their pricing for Zen 5. Now we need to see how these new chips stack up against Zen 4 and Intel's Raptor Lake chips like the Core i5-14600K. Let's see how Zen 5 performs!
